So I Finally Got My Butt Back To The Gym Today
It’s been a couple of months minimum. I don’t know why I let it go so long, but I do every now and then and it makes no sense because I really do enjoy the gym.
I especially like weights. I like feeling strong, and I get the tangible results of being able to lift heavier weights every time I go, even if the scale is stubbornly refusing to budge.
I do take a token pass at the elliptical to appease the cardio gods. It gets my heart rate up and doesn’t kill my joints. It’s also not as stultifyingly boring as the treadmill.
I’m going back to morning workouts, which does not really come naturally but it’s the best chance of getting it done.
The key is going to be evening prep. I have to have my lunch made and my gym and work clothes laid out, because any glitch in the morning routine could be enough to throw the whole thing out the window.
Another thing I’m going to try this time around is to plan on going every day, because if I don’t commit to going daily, then every day I will have a choice and I think I’m better off not making a decision daily and going on autopilot.
